Hôpital d’une capacité totale d’accueil de 943 lits et places dont 583 pour l’hôpital, le nouvel …établissement a été conçu de manière à faciliter la venue et le séjour des patients : parking visiteurs de 350 places, accès direct depuis l’autoroute, hall d’accueil conçu comme un véritable lieu de vie, de détente et de convivialité, avec sa grande rue spacieuse et lumineuse, sa cafétéria... En termes de confort, le nouvel hôpital dispose d’une majorité de chambres particulières, toutes équipées de salle de bains et dont la décoration a été particulièrement soignée. Les dernières innovations technologiques font du nouvel hôpital un établissement résolument tourné vers l’avenir. The city of Calais is located at the crossroads of two major highways (A16 and A26) and the gateway to the continent. With its proximity to the port and the Channel Tunnel, nearly 35 million people pass through Calais. Calais has a socio-cultural infrastructure of the highest quality which includes a national theatre and the International City of Lace & Fashion museum. The aim of the Centre Hospitalier de Calais is to open its doors to a wider public audience both to residents of the Calais region and also for its European neighbours to benefit from its excellent hospital care. To achieve this goal, the site of Virval located south east of Calais, was chosen because it offers easy access from the city centre and the ring road surrounding the city. It also brings together the facilities available by consolidating resources, thus creating a unique centre of health including a nursing home, back-up services for patients returning home, the Psychiatric Clinic Virval as well as a laundry. “Ideal residential conditions” Centre Hospitalier de Calais has integrated its services within its new premises in a large park. This modern Hospital has 502 beds and has been specifically designed for easy access for patients and visitors. There is a direct slip road from the highway, parking for 350 cars, and the entrance leads to an aesthetically relaxing lobby with large modern spacious hallways and a cafeteria. In terms of comfort, the new hospital has mostly private rooms, with en suite bathrooms, all attractively decorated to a high standard of comfort. “Numerous specialties” The new hospital facility boasts the latest technological innovations and offers the most up to date multi-media terminals. It also has first class technical equipment including MRI, CT and digital resources. Centre Hospitalier de Calais has a large number of medical and surgical disciplines within the hospital and specialist consultations. It works closely with the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Lille, sharing practitioners, facilities and overall expertise. For all peri-natal activities, the Centre Hospitalier de Calais is available 24 hours for all conditions and requirements relating to mother and child. It also has 24 hour cover for surgical procedures following trauma, abdominal surgery, urology and ENT emergencies with two anaesthesia nurses on site for all surgical and obstetrical operations. Endoscopies are performed for pulmonary and hepato-gastroenterology and ENT procedures and recently the hospital has also introduced two new specialties : plastic and reconstructive surgery and vascular surgery.
